Little Star

My Dad wrote this sweet poem for Ella on the day she was born. This will definitely be something for her to treasure. My dear parents left three days after Ella's birth to begin their three-year mission in Russia. I am so thankful for my parents and for the sacrifices they are making to serve a mission. What a great example for my kids!

Ella means "torch" or "bright light" in Greek.

Little Star

Little star, rise and shine,
Planet, let the Light Divine
Reflect upon that face of thine,
        And shine for us tonight!

In the darkness, whitest flower,
Little maid of morning hour,
Be to us a beacon tower
        Of the Holy Light!

Ever cast thy steady ray,
To us who wander far away,
Guide us 'til the break of day,
        And lead us home alright!

And be to those who stand apart,
Without a compass or a chart
A daystar rising in the heart
        A sure and constant light!

So come into our safe embrace,
And cast the light of Heavenly Grace
Upon us from thine infant face,
        And shine for us tonight!
