Miscellaneous February...
Here is James again being very excited with his new slippers!
Yesterday James went for his very first walk in his stroller. The weather was so nice that I took him out and walked over to his Grandma and Grandpa's house. Grandpa had the day off, so he and James had a nice little visit and read some books.

James is starting to get more and more cuddly, which is so much fun! Here we are having a nice little cuddle.
Not too happy...

Good morning!
Our little James is a morning person - a characteristic he most definitely got from his daddy, and not his mommy! When he wakes up in the morning he just patiently waits for us to come get him, and when we do he gives us the biggest smiles ever! He is SO cheerful in the mornings. It is nice, since his daddy is gone a lot, that he gets to spend a little bit of time with him in the mornings. James likes to sit in his bouncy seat on the table while Jonathan eats breakfast and while I make his lunch for him. As you can see in this video, he is just such a happy boy! I took this video this morning, he was being so cute. He just gets so excited sometimes that he flails his arms and legs and doesn't know quite how to contain his excitement! Notice the great slippers (which he kept kicking off) - they were a Christmas gift from my aunt Tracy and her family (thanks again!). Enjoy the video! Oh and p.s. I don't know why there is no sound, but I am working on that - I'll figure it out sometime :)

Our Baby is Growing Up!
This may sound crazy, but I seriously think that James visibly grew bigger today! He just looks SO big to me, I can't believe it! He is just growing up right before our eyes! He is so much bigger than he was when he was born! He went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago for his 2-month checkup, and he weighed 12 pounds 7 ounces! He measured 25 inches, and is in the 96th percentile for length! He is a big boy! I keep telling him that he is going to be tall like his Uncle Josh. Anyway, our baby is just growing up so fast, and while it is a little sad that he's not quite a newborn anymore, it is so fun and exciting to see him changing every day!
He is beginning to grab onto his toys more and to start to "play" with them. Well, at least he tries to eat them! Especially stuffed animals, he always tries to put them in his mouth. Ok, so I handed him the teddy bear, but he totally held onto it and hugged it and . . . well, tried to eat it! :)

James absolutely LOVES his Uncle Josh! Josh can always calm him down when James is sad. James just gazes into Josh's eyes, it is the cutest thing in the world. Josh has been staying with us for a couple of days, and James has been having so much fun!
Yummy!
This boy is just so cute, I can't help myself - I take so many pictures of him! Here I was about to change his diaper, and he was so happy that I was changing him that he was just smiling at me so big!
James likes to be a good little "helper" and he holds onto his pants while I change his diaper, it is hilarious. Usually he just tries to eat them.
Just look at those eyes! I am in love! :)
This boy is so pleasant!
Our happy, happy boy! :)
Tummy time!

Trying to roll over. He actually rolled over for the first time about 5 weeks ago, but hasn't really done it since. But tonight (just after I took this picture) he rolled over about 5 times!

Our Little Cougar
James already has some Cougar pride. How can he not when his Mommy graduated from BYU, and his Daddy will in a couple of months? His aunts gave him this great shirt for Christmas.

A lucky kid
James has so many people who love him! He is by FAR the most popular person at ANY family gathering. Here he is with his Grandpa Gibbons and Aunt Liz.

Grandparents Galore
James is so lucky to not only have four amazing grandparents, but to have three living great-grandparents! What a joy it is for him to be able to spend time with all of them! His great-Grandma and great-Grandpa Gibbons visited the other day and they had a very nice visit.

James and his Grandpa Gibbons! These are two of the greatest guys in the world! :) They are great buddies.

Every boy needs a baseball cap!
Here is our little buddy showing off his nice baseball cap. We think it makes him look like quite the big boy!

Date Night
When you become parents it gets harder to get out of the house to go on dates, and harder to pay for the dates! :) So, our favorite kind of date night is the at-home, free kind! :) Last weekend this is what Jonathan and I ended up doing. I had just bought a bunch of new food colors, so we just went at it and this is what we ended up with!

A "Big Boy Bed"
So we FINALLY got James' crib! We had put it and his dresser/changer on layaway back in November. The other day I realized that he was getting way too big for his bassinet - he pretty much filled up the whole bed, and his head kept getting squished against the end! Poor kid. So last week we went and picked up his brand new "big boy bed" - and he loves it! We realized even more how he had outgrown his bassinet when he would wake up in his crib turned a completely different direction than how we put him in. I haven't taken any pictures of the actual crib and dresser yet, because I still need to hang up some cute decorations on the wall. But here he is in his bed, happy as can be! He has farm animal bedding (which I thought was appropriate, since his Daddy grew up on a farm), and I splurged and decided to get this cute farm animal mobile. He absolutely loves it!

Valentines Day
For Valentines Day I made dinner for Jonathan (who had school until 7:30), and it turned out really well! I was very proud of myself because I tried a couple of new recipes, including a spinach/strawberry salad with a really good dressing. I wasn't so sure about the dressing as I was making it (it has kind of random ingredients, and I wasn't sure how they would taste together!) but it was really good! James was a good boy and went to sleep around 7 (which he has been doing the past week - wahoo!), and didn't wake up to eat until around midnight.

Visiting a Dear Friend
On Monday I got to introduce James to a dear friend and teacher, Bonnie Winterton. Bonnie was my piano teacher for about six years before I went to college, and she is one of my heroes! It is always so fun to go back and visit with her. She is the type of person who can always make you feel good, no matter what kind of day you are having! She is an amazing woman and is still going strong and doing such great things. James had a nice visit with his "Grandma Bonnie," despite the fact that he was very tired and fussy at the time.
