1. check out this sweet rendering of my face, drawn today by my two-year-old. I know, I know - what talent! he really made me look good, didn't he? actually though, I do feel pretty special because when asked to draw other family members, he whipped out a bunch of scribbles. at least mine looks like a face, right?

2. Tonight we celebrated my sister Annie's birthday (happy birthday!!) And oh how I love my family. I love how my family keeps ourselves entertained with made-up games. yes, we make them up, we play them, we even give them cool names. like "rice cat" or "crashenstacky." This particular game consists of stacking up a bunch of plastic cups into a pyramid shape, driving a toy car into the stack and trying to make the cups fall in such a manner that they stack up on top of each other. You then take the cups that stacked and add up the random numbers found on the bottom - voila, you have your score!

Also, notice how James beat almost half of the family with only one turn.

Want some stuff?

Well as you may know, we are moving to Texas! And we don't want to haul a bunch of stuff there unnecessarily. We are selling some furniture...anyone interested? We are in the Murray area of Salt Lake. Feel free to pass on this info to anyone needing some furniture. If you're interested, leave a comment!

This is a wooden shelf that we use for outside storage. We are asking only five bucks for it on craigslist, but honestly you can have it for free if you are willing to come haul it off! It is a nice and sturdy shelf.

Now this baby is Jonathan's Little Giant Ladder. These things are fancy schmancy and sell for $400 new. Ours is in really good condition, we are asking $250 or best offer.

Entertainment center - opening for the TV is 24" wide and 27" high. Has cute carved designs in the cabinet doors. In the picture there is a knob missing, but luckily it just turned up in a random box of stuff! $50 or best offer!

Matching couch & loveseat set - now these babies aren't the cutest ever (you've got a lovely floral design going on there) but just put a couch cover on it and you're in business. We bought these for comfort, not for looks :) $100 or best offer for the set.

Tall bookcase - really good condition. $20 or best offer.

the simple joys

One of my favorite summer memories is being at my Grandma and Grandpa Glenn's house as a little girl with my cousins and having races on the front lawn. We would run around and play games like horseshoe and swing on the swings, and my Grandpa used to give us Cracker Jacks. (Isn't it funny the things you remember?) But there is just something so great about running through the grass with bare feet, isn't there? James has recently discovered this joy, and often says, "I want to go wif bare foot!" or "Let's bos go wif bare foot!" Last night we celebrated my Dad's birthday and had lots of fun running around on the lawn, playing frisbee and rolling down the hill. We even went for a walk around the block (wif bare foot, of course) to do a "sidewalk survey" - where you walk around the block with bare feet and survey which sidewalk blocks are warm, or cold, or smooth, or bumpy - it's the simple joys that matter, right?

And seriously, what is better than laying on the lawn, looking up at the stars (or the clouds, or the sunset - depending on the weather and time of day)? We used to do this all the time growing up. We'd lay out on a blanket looking at the trees and stars and waiting for my mom to come home from church meetings. I think people should do this more often.

This is one of my very favorite faces that James makes - I love his little raised eyebrows when he is so excited about something!

our weekend in Oregon

We had a really wonderful time up in Oregon last weekend.

Even though there is a Boster reunion planned for August, most of us ended up going home for the 4th of July as well, for a sort of spur-of-the-moment pre-reunion reunion. (And boy we sure missed the Tessems & Joseph and Megan!)

And every time I go home, I just love it more and more! It is so beautiful out there in the country...I think I become more and more of a country girl each time we go!

James sure loved it too - and was such a hard worker! He helped out every chance he got.

Here we are changing the water (James was so excited to help, he kept saying, "I want to change the line!"). Like my boots?

This was the first time James really enjoyed playing with his cousins. He wasn't shy at all and had so much fun with Hannah and Joshua!

James and his Daddy went out with a butterfly net and a jar and came back in with a big grasshopper!

We all celebrated Sierra's birthday while we were home with a big barbecue (and the yummiest chocolate cake I have ever tasted in my life - thank you, Costco!) Here are Andrew and Sierra - what a cute couple!

Hannah and Anna (holy cow - Hannah, Nana & Anna - they all rhyme!) on a horse. James thought about riding the horse but decided not to :) Maybe next time!

James loved swinging on the swings, and even got up the courage to go on the trampoline a few times (he was nervous because it was a "litter bouncy!")

First time I read it I didn't know what it was saying....haha...

On Sunday Anna curled all of the girls' hair!

...and straightened Benjamin's!

What a fun time - we also picked lots of raspberries & cherries, ate lots of yummy food, played games, wrote some poetry (haha) and just enjoyed being together. Can't wait to be with the whole Boster fam again in August!
