random goings-on

Mommy, Daddy & James on Sunday afternoon. Notice my new funky RED glasses. They actually don't look this bright red in real life - I think the flash of the camera made them way bright! Anyway, I bought these recently, and sort of tried them on as a joke and then ended up buying them!

Daddy is teaching James how to blow bubbles in the bathtub. James loves to stick his face in the water so we figured we'd better teach him. He does it like a pro now!

Lately James loves to wear other people's shoes, especially Daddy's.

Father and son, relaxing at the end of the day and playing the Wii.
What a cool dude!

stickers

What better thing to keep a kid busy with than stickers? James LOVES stickers lately. The other day I put some star stickers on his hands and he just LOVED them, he kept them on for two days until I finally took them off myself. Cute kid.

Varsity

James has a new basketball jersey that he just loves. He wore it for the first time the other day and absolutely loved it! He was very fascinated by the picture of the basketball on the front. Whenever we say "James, where's your basketball?" he looks down at his shirt and finds the basketball and points at it. What a smart kid! (He is also very good at finding his head when we ask him where his head is, and we are currently working on other body parts like ears and nose!) His Daddy has started calling him "Varsity" because of his basketball jersey. It's like how my sister Liz calls Jonathan "Camden" because of a shirt he has. Well anyway, here is our handsome boy in his basketball jersey, striking a handsome pose for the camera -

Blessings

On Thursday night, Jonathan's little sisters Rebecca and Anna were driving to their school in the Geo. It was pretty dark, and they were probably going about 45 or 50 mph, when all of a sudden there was a black cow right in the middle of the road, and they hit it! The cow was standing sideways, but turned its head to look straight at them right when they hit - so its head hit the windshield and shattered it. It all happened so fast, and the girls don't remember too much about what happened, but looking at the car we all knew that they had definitely been protected. They were both able to walk away with hardly a scratch - they were both covered in glass and were pretty shaken up, and are pretty sore now, but they are just fine. What a blessing it was! There are holes in the windshield where we think the cow's horns went through, and there is even grass and manure-y nastiness in the back seat of the car. The cow is dead and the car is totaled. We are all so grateful that Heavenly Father was watching out for them. It was quite the crazy night at the Boster home. We all decided that it gives new meaning to that "interrupting cow" knock-knock joke...

Our Big Boy's Latest Adventures

He just keeps on growing and growing...

This kid is so much fun! He walks around like a pro now, and is getting pretty close to running at times. It is so funny to watch him toddle around. This morning he woke up after twelve hours of sleep and was well-rested and excited to start playing. I got him out of bed and he was so excited, he started practically running down the hallway in his "white part" (Gibbons family lingo for onesie). He got going so fast that he could hardly go in a straight line and almost ran into the wall multiple times! It was hilarious.

Today James was "talking" to his Daddy on the phone at lunch time (he does this by holding the phone up to his nose and listening intently) - and all of a sudden he said "Dad" as clearly as could be! He also loves to mimic things we say and has a growing vocabulary, including his newest word, "Grandpa" ("Ba-pa"). Rumor has it that he also said "Grandy" (or something along those lines) the other day, although I wasn't there to hear it - so both Grandpa's should feel really special! :)

Today for lunch, my sister-in-law Emma Jeane and I decided to make pancakes. We were so excited, they sounded SO good. We made them from scratch using my Mom's amazing recipe. We sat down to eat them and they just didn't taste...right. It was quite the mystery. We finally decided that the flour smelled really funny, and that we should probably just throw the pancakes out. Well, my in-laws have no garbage disposal - so what do you do with no disposal in the country? You throw the food out on the back porch for the cats to eat. James LOVES it when we give food to the cats, he can hardly contain his excitement. He tries to run out the door and yells "oh!! oh!!" Since we had a whole plate of pancakes, I thought he'd like to help feed the cats! So we opened the door and I handed him a pancake, and then started to throw the others out. We kept telling him to throw the pancake, but he just wouldn't - he just kept walking closer and closer to the cats, and holding on tight to his pancake. Well, I finally picked him up and tried to take the pancake from him and he hurriedly shoved it in his own mouth. What a funny boy!

Here he is in his cute football shirt - I think this outfit really makes him look like a big boy! I'm not sure if 27 is anyone's number or if it's supposed to be a particular team's colors, but who cares - it only cost us a quarter and looks brand new!
