This kind of weather...

...makes me want to go hooky-bobbing!

Hooky-bobbing is simple: grab a rope and some sleds/inner tubes, tie them to the back of a truck, hop on, have someone drive the truck around in the snow.

Thinking of this makes me so happy because:

1) SNOW is involved, and who else loved the snow today??!
2) Reminds me of Christmas (less than two months, folks!)
3) I get to hear my grown-up brothers-in-law screaming like girls
4) Seeing Benjamin riding on an inner tube looking like a powdered donut
5) It's always fun when you see sleds flipping upside-down and flying through the air
6) It makes me miss my in-laws, and I can't wait to go home for Thanksgiving! Hope we have snow then!

And, if you just need a visual....here it is :) Hope you enjoy!

First Snow!

James has been standing at the window all morning saying, "Play? Snow?" I keep telling him that we can play in it after we get better (yes, I have the flu, too).

He just keeps on saying it. "Play? Snow? Dada? Bames? Mama?" (Bames means James.)

We can't wait until we are all better and can play in the snow! Of course, by that time, the snow may be gone...

Don't you just love the first snow of the year?? :)

Our Christmas in Pictures

We had a wonderful Christmas with Jonathan's family - most of them were home and we had such a fun time! We did a lot of hooky-bobbing and playing in the snow, including building [half of] an awesome snow fort on Christmas Eve. Here are a few pictures - Merry Christmas!

hooky bobbin'

Today I became a true Boster - no, I didn't become a true Boster when I milked the cow, or when I helped move irrigation pipes, or when I mowed the lawn with the big lawn mower - today I became a true Boster because I went hooky bobbing! Never heard of it? Well, hooky bobbin' is a favorite winter pastime in Jonathan's family, and not until today did I get the opportunity to try it out. We took Joseph's pickup truck out to the field and tied a bunch of sleds and tubes to the back and had a grand old time sledding around. It was so much fun! James came along in his car seat in the backseat of the truck, and actually had a nice little nap :)

Anyway, it was seriously so much fun! Joseph and Mom took turns driving the truck, and we all took turns hooky bobbin'. I think my favorite part of the whole experience was seeing Benjamin, laying on his stomach on a sled and holding onto the rope as he went through the snow, face first, getting just covered and covered in snow. He looked like a snowman. It was hilarious. My only regret of the day is that Jonathan had to work and didn't get to go with us :( Hopefully we'll be able to do it again when he is off work!

All Bundled Up

We were so excited to see the snow this weekend! It has been so nice to break out the sweaters for a change and to enjoy the comfy cozy weather. And I have to admit that it makes me excited for the holidays!

On Saturday we were going out, so we bundled James up. Jonathan was putting on James' jacket (which he has only worn once), and when I came up the stairs Jonathan was laughing hysterically. James had his baby blue fleece jacket on with the hood pulled up over his head and he looked so darn cute and funny. Jonathan said, "this looks so girly!!" I'm not sure if I would call it "girly," but it definitely is not very manly. But I think that is alright, because he is not a man, he is a baby. James looks so cute in it though, all bundled up.

Since it was snowing/hailing at the time, we put on his windbreaker jacket on top of the fleece one and he looked SO cute. I just had to take some pictures.

James isn't my only boy who got all bundled up this weekend - here is Jonathan trying on coats (as in, three or four at a time) at a store. Notice James' little finger pointing at his Daddy.
