Last Chance!

Today is the LAST DAY TO VOTE FOR JAMES!!

Thanks to all our awesome friends who have voted for James so far in RLT Photography's "Adorable Baby Contest!" Today is the LAST day to vote. You can vote until 4:00 pm tomorrow.

James is tied for 2nd place right now with 11% of the vote, and 1st place... has 14%! With over 6000 votes so far, I figure that James needs at LEAST 200 more votes, probably more. I would LOVE it if you could all vote for him again!! And then after tomorrow I will totally stop bugging you all, I promise! :) You can vote every 12 hours, so you can still get in 2 or 3 votes before it ends. And remember - you can vote on EVERY browser you have installed (firefox, internet explorer, chrome, etc.) and if you have multiple users on your computer you can use those too. Please help us win!!! Thank you!

The simple joys of childhood

While visiting my Mom today, James and I looked out the window and saw a black cat climbing across the top of a fence! Oh the excitement! James loves cats lately. He went shopping with me yesterday and while I was trying on clothes in the dressing room at Old Navy, he got very bored and so he decided to be a cat. He crawled all around the dressing room meowing, rubbing up against my leg and climbing on me. And he tried to lick the wall. Yuck.

So anyway, we were looking out the window at this cat, and James opened the shutters, spooking the cat a bit. I told him that maybe we shouldn't move the shutters so we don't scare the cat. Then the cat moved closer and STARED at us with its big green eyes. James turned and reached for me and said, "Cares me!!" [scares me] (I can't say that I blame him, I am so not a cat person; in fact, I really dislike cats most of the time. Kittens are kind of cute though.)

He felt much better, though, after we looked out a different window and scared the cat, making it run away. James just laughed and laughed!

Isn't it fun discovering the world through the eyes of your child? Like the excitement of seeing a cat or a bird or a bug. Or taking long, looooong walks and stopping to look at everything along the way. If I wasn't a mommy, I so would not be blogging about seeing a cat outside the window. :) But I am a mommy, and I just love it. I am so happy to get to re-live childhood vicariously through my little buddy.

Featured!

I have been following and participating in a great photography blog, i♥faces, for the past couple of months. It is a wonderful website that hosts weekly photography contests and offers tips and tutorials for photographers of all levels. Anyway, just a few minutes ago I was so excited when I went to their home page and saw one of my photos featured! I took this photo of downtown Salt Lake City from my grandparents' 12th-story condo on Christmas Day.

I just basically wanted to share my excitement :) And say that I ♥ photography! Check out my photography blog for some of my recent photos - more to be added soon. If anyone is in need of a photographer, I can offer my services for a sweet deal as I am working to get experience and build my portfolio!

p.s. and speaking of photography, James could really use more votes! Even if you have voted for him before, you can do it every 12 hours, and on every browser (firefox, internet explorer, chrome, etc.) Thanks!

too much Wii?

A few minutes ago, I was upstairs in our room and Jonathan was downstairs playing his new Super Mario Wii game (SO much fun!), when I realized that James was crying from his bed. I switched on the baby monitor in our room to see what he was saying. As far as I could make out, this is it: "Play game too, please!!"

I had Jonathan turn down the volume, and James immediately went back to sleep. :)

p.s. James needs more votes!! :)

dance moves

Tonight as I was putting James in his pj's we were singing songs - his new favorite is "Jesus Wants Me For a Sunbeam" - he sings along and knows almost every word! Now how did my baby grow up enough to be able to sing a song?? We then started to sing another song, and he was singing along for awhile. Then all of a sudden he just stopped singing, looked up at me, and with a big smile said, "Dancing!" and started to wave his hands in the air and shake his little body around. (He is also known to whip out his "dance moves" during the closing credits of Gilmore Girls whenever his Mama watches it.)

p.s. James needs more votes!! :)

don't let the bed bugs bite...

Conversation with James last night before he went to sleep:

Me: "Love you!"
James: "Wuh-woos!"
Me: "Sleep tight!"
James: "Sleep tight!"
Me: "Sweet dreams!"
James: "Sleet beams!"
Me (trying to keep up this cute conversation by coming up with something else he could repeat): "Don't let the bed bugs bite!"
James: long, long pause, nervous look on his face, then said something like, "Mama, bugs????"

Poor kid thought there were bugs in his bed. Oops. I had to try and explain that it was just an expression, but how do you explain that to a 2-year-old? Way to go, Mama.

Four Years Together

Yesterday Jonathan and I celebrated four years of marriage! This will be our 5th Christmas together as a married couple, I can't believe how the time has flown by. Happy Anniversary, Babe! I love you so much!

I thought I'd share our wedding video that we had playing at our reception. Here it is in two parts:
