Welcome to our home!

So, you want to have a little tour?
Here's the front of our home. It is a duplex-style townhouse in a nice, gated subdivision in San Antonio. We feel so blessed to have found such a wonderful home to live while Daddy goes to school.

As you can tell, James just loves it!

Why don't you come in?

This is our living room/dining room. It may be a little sparse on furniture at present, but it is the room we have the most fun running around in - running around being cars, or airplanes, or pretending to be boats, or playing games.

If you peek into that little window you will see our kitchen!

And our dining room. Complete with tile (not carpet) flooring. This is definitely a joy. Our last two apartments had carpet flooring under the table. Never again. Especially when there is a toddler in the house.

Come take a look at our lovely kitchen. It is just perfect for cooking delicious meals or baking yummy treats. There is a nice-sized pantry on the left, and an under-the-stairs closet (currently housing lots of junk) on the right. And if you go straight ahead, through that door...



...you'll be in our garage! A garage definitely was not on our must-have list, but we are so grateful to have one in this climate. Plus, it makes for a great bike-riding area when Daddy has the car at school. And the washer and dryer is out here as well.

I just love all the light and all the space.



And we are so lucky to have such a nice backyard! Come take a look (it's not so hot these days) :)



Here is our lovely, low-maintenance (plastic-tarp-and-wood-chip-covered) backyard. It has a nice patio (note to self, get patio chairs) and is shaded by a huge, beautiful...



...oak tree. At least I think that's what it is. Possibly a live oak. Of some sort. But anyway, we see these gorgeous trees all over, and love their big, crazily-bent trunks and branches are really neat.



We get to see a lot of fun things in our backyard - squirrels, all kinds of birds, cats (which I am not so fond of but James gets a big kick out of), lizards, and the occasional very large insect. Squirrels love this tree and run so fast along the branches.

Most intriguing about this tree are the hundreds of acorns that fall from it - all throughout the day and night we hear thuds of acorns falling on our roof, on the patio, hitting the fence - but the strange thing is when we hear the sound of an acorn hitting our sliding glass window at full force. We suspect that maybe a big squirrel likes to sit on the branches and throw acorns at our house. At least that's what it sounds like!



Let's go back inside the living room. We love our nice fireplace and mantle....but have doubts as to whether it will ever be cold enough to actually use it!

On the right you will see our front door, to the left are the stairs and then the half bathroom, and straight ahead is our little third bedroom (aka our piano room!).





Take a peek at the half bath on your way down the hall...



...and here is our piano room! Possibly the most cozy room in the house on account of the big rug we put in there. You would not believe how the sound of a piano echoes in a tile home like this.

On a side note, this room will serve as a guest room whenever we have visitors! So head on down :)



Let's show you the upstairs.



Here you will find the only carpet in the entire house.



Our nice big linen/game closet.



Let's turn to the left and see the master bedroom. When you get in there, turn to your left again and take a peek (but not too closely please, or you might find some dirty laundry) at our huge walk-in closet. Upon seeing a picture of this baby I was completely sold on this apartment. You can't tell from this picture, but at the back you turn to the left and there is a huge area (which is full of still-unpacked boxes). Also our elliptical is in there.



Ok enough of that. Here is our bedroom. We often hear squirrels running around on our roof. Probably going after those acorns that roll off of it.

Alright, so you didn't really think that we had everything unpacked, did you? Well here is proof. Actually, as I type this, this little nook no longer is full of boxes and junk, but is a very nice study nook for Jonathan. I was just too lazy to take another picture at the moment. But at least now you know we aren't perfect :)

And the view back into the hallway. Which is where we are now going, and headed to the most exciting room of the house...



...James' room!



And look, there he is. What a lucky boy to have such a nice room. This room is perfect for playing in. We love building train tracks in here, doing puzzles, playing with doggies and reading books. And it's big enough for riding bikes. Excellent.

...and his bookshelf full of books and toys! This is the smile I get now when I ask him to smile for the camera. What is up with that?





What a lucky boy to have his own bathroom. Again, not something we had to have in an apartment, but if it's there we'll take it!

It's pretty nice to have your own tub to keep all of your bath toys in. And have your own potty seat to learn to go potty on (we have been working on that, but haven't quite gotten up the courage to really take the plunge and just get rid of the diapers....)



Silly smile.



And here you will see James' very own sink, complete with his own stool for washing his hands all by himself. This usually involves pumping tons of liquid soap onto one hand (probably enough for at least five hand washes), then, without even touching the other hand to the soapy hand, rinsing off both hands under the faucet. Way to go, Buddy!
