Great day!

The Library

We went to the library today, which James loves. We usually either let him pick out a few books, or we pick out a few for him to check out and take home. (This kid loves to "read" - he even takes a book or two to bed with him and "reads" before bedtime!) We picked out some cute books today, ones like "One Little Bunny" and "Peek-a-Moo!" and "Curious George" - you know, cute ones with animals and things. When we got to the car, though, we were looking through our stack and noticed a book that we hadn't realized we checked out - it was called "What's So Bad About Gasoline?" James had apparently picked it himself and put it in our stack. I guess he wanted to learn about the environment and fossil fuels. Either that, or he just liked all the pictures of cars!

Today I made chocolate chip cookies and we decided to let James have one, warm out of the oven and full of gooey chocolatey goodness. Here is the resulting boy (who, consequently, had a bath immediately following the cookie):



We went to the library today and James LOVED it. There is the cutest children's section, complete with tons of little couches and benches to sit on, bins FULL of picture books to read, and some neat toys. James had a ball. We then went to visit my family, and these pictures were too cute to not post...

James decided he wanted to sit in the fireplace. Don't worry, it is never used...

Books & Big Boy Clothes

We have a whole drawer full of bigger clothes for James to grow into and fall/winter clothes, and it is so fun that he is starting to wear them now! So, naturally, I've gotta take pictures of him wearing the new clothes, right? These were just too darn cute not to share.

These cute pj's were from my Aunt Jamie, and I am so excited that they finally fit James, and just in time for fall. I can't get over his cute face in this first picture. Notice how much he loves books, too! He loves turning the pages and pointing at pictures.



I couldn't wait to try these pants on James - they are still a little big but they are close. My Mom and I bought them from a clearance rack when James was just a month or two old - they are Nike pants and they were only $2! Brand new! He looks like a big boy wearing them! I got the shirt from a friend at a baby shower before James was born. James was looking at this book and kept on pointing at the doggies and saying" da! da!" which may have been a coincidence, but I like to think that he was trying to say "dog" - it certainly seemed like he knew what he was talking about!

My favorite book of all time is Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown. I have loved this book ever since I was a little girl; I think it may have been this book that resulted in my need to see the moon each night before I went to sleep - my Dad would wrap me in a blanket and carry me outside to see it. We have got like four or five copies of this book in our home, and we read it to James regularly - he is getting to the point where he really enjoys books, and he even points at the mouse in the picture! So cute. It's kind of crazy how these things come full circle!

Well, tonight Jonathan and I were playing around with the computer, and we noticed that it has a voice recognition program. In theory, instead of typing a document, you just speak the words out loud and the computer types it for you. Jonathan went through the little tutorial and learned a little bit about it, and then we just tried it out with a blank word processing document. I decided it would be fun to recite Goodnight Moon (because I have it memorized, of course) and see what the computer picks up.

Just in case you're not familiar with this book, here is how the text really goes:

So, pretty simple, right? A computer, with its advanced technology, could totally pick up these simple words and repetitive phrases. Well, here is our voice-dictated computer version. Really, it is amazing how close it came to the original. Oh, and my favorite parts are the part about Iraq, the pianist, "goodnight BS" and the "bowl full of months." Every night, James and his Daddy have story time - and James will actually sit there for quite awhile while Jonathan reads tons of books to him. Pretty cute...

Miscellaneous February...

Here is James again being very excited with his new slippers!

Yesterday James went for his very first walk in his stroller. The weather was so nice that I took him out and walked over to his Grandma and Grandpa's house. Grandpa had the day off, so he and James had a nice little visit and read some books.


James is starting to get more and more cuddly, which is so much fun! Here we are having a nice little cuddle.

My Boys

Here are some pictures of my boys! They are the cutest ever, I am so lucky :)

Jonathan got to feed James a bottle the other night, and it was so cute because James was holding onto Jonathan's fingers the entire time.

James and his Daddy enjoy some fun study time together this morning. James is practicing up for when he'll be in school. What a smart boy!

Our "Lil Hero!" I just got this outfit for James. I couldn't resist because it was so cute, and very cheap! Mervyn's had a huge sale and I got him a bunch of clothes for about $2 each! He is one stylin' little boy.

James is MY hero, because he is starting to sleep longer at night! The other night I fed him at 10:30 and then we went to bed. When he woke up in the night, I woke up feeling a LOT more rested than usual - so I looked at the clock and it was 4:30! Wahoo! Then the next night he slept from about 9:30 to 4:30! I am liking this a lot :) I never realized, before I was a Mom, how happy I'd be to be able to sleep until 4:30 am.

Here is my cute little guy having some tummy time. He wasn't quite in the mood to roll over or lift up his head much, but as you can see he was VERY content.
